Easter Eggs

Easter Egg hunting was a big hit with Sam. He got really excited.

It was kinda cold and windy Easter morning so the Easter Bunny hid the eggs inside.

Sam liked to shake the eggs like maracas.

The Easter Bunny filled the eggs with Jelly Beans, M&M's, Reese's Pieces, and Peeps. Sam tasted everything, but also spit everything out. He was more interested in feeding candy to us.

Sam was more excited about the non-candy options that he found in the Easter basket from Lulu.

Here's a video of Sam Easter Egg hunting.

Sam slept until 9am Easter morning, so we all felt well-rested and enjoyed the morning.

Melanie had been practicing egg hunting with Sam the week before Easter.

Pops came to visit for Spring Break. Pops and Sam posed for the traditional picture the morning that Pops went home.

One night after dinner Chris played a game with Sam where Chris put a tube of Chapstick on the table to see who could grab it faster. Sam got a huge kick out of this and laughed and laughed. When Sam won, he also had to work on his pincher grasp to stand the tube up for the next round. When Chris started the game again the next night, I said "oh no." Sam repeated "oh no" very loudly and got a good laugh from everyone so that became his new phrase. About a week later, he was playing with his puzzles with Chris. Chris dumped all the pieces from all his different puzzles in one big pile. Sam started saying "oh no, oh no" over and over.

We also just so happen to have started using "timeout" when Pops was here. It's been pretty effective. We give him 3 count to stop or he goes in timeout for a minute. At first he thought it was fun and even ran over and put himself in timeout when we started to count. Now he understands what it's all about, so he doesn't like it any more.

Sam got his third haircut. Here's the before and after. He did a little better this time. He did much better when they gave him a sucker. We got it cut a little shorter this time, so maybe we can wait a little longer between haircuts next time.

Here's another before and after of our master bath. We've been doing a lot of cleaning and prepping our house to sell it. We had to paint this bathroom! I removed the wallpaper and painted it this awful blue years ago. It was such an ordeal that I never felt like fixing it. We hired painters to texture the walls and paint them.

Melly and Sam were "besties" this weekend. Melanie babysat for us Friday night so we could go out for a nice dinner. We had gone to look at some houses with a realtor that morning so we had a lot to talk about.

Chris must have read every book in Sam's cabinet this weekend. Here is Chris letting Sam chose the next book. Sam started nodding yes this weekend so it's been wonderful getting a positive response. It's been "no, no, no" or just a look for a while now, so we love his funny little nod.

Chris has been giving Sam his bath since the day he was born, so they have a pretty good routine. Chris wraps Sam's hair in a towel and gives him a cup of milk while he's getting ready for bed. Sam fusses if he doesn't have his milk right away.

Here's a video of Sam talking. We've been trying to make this video for months now, but he always got really shy when we got the camera out.

Sam gets more and more independent every day. It's a happy and sad at the same time type of thing. He gets so frustrated sometimes that it makes him cry, but he still doesn't want us to help. For example, he wants to take of his own jacket. He'll pull at the sleeve and spin in circles trying to take it off. Then he'll start crying - so we try to help - but he pushes us away, says "no", and goes back to spinning in circles and crying. He gets the jacket off eventually!

We're all pretty tired today. Sam hasn't slept well two nights in a row - waking up several times a night. I took him to the doctor today and she said that his tubes might be plugged. I put drops in his ears tonight and they seemed to drain ok. Sam was so tired that he fell asleep in my lap at the dinner table. We had him in bed by 8, so we're all hoping for sleep.
