We did it! We dyed Easter Eggs this year! The boys had Good Friday off from school. We went to the park in the morning, hit McDonald's and the grocery store, then spent the rest of the day in the backyard.
The boys were very fascinated by how the whole "dying eggs" process worked.
Patiently waiting for the fizzy color tabs to dissolve in the vinegar.
Washable crayons did not work. We'll have to try real wax crayons next year.
Very proud of their eggs ... and, surprisingly, only one casualty
Who knew boiled eggs tasted soooo good when they are dyed? Note to self: next year buy eggs a week in advance. Older eggs peel easier than new eggs. Why do I forget that every year?
Dye dry ... time for stickers and wrappers!
Later that day ... lessons in closed circuits with light bulbs and conductivity of different metals (seriously, he got to try aluminum, steel, copper, gold, silver).
"I don't want to stop! I only got to build 5 circuits!"
Easter morning!
Easter basket!
Easter booty!
40-something eggs found in a flash
So happy the boys got to hunt eggs outside this year! The storm clouds came rolling in a few hours later. Mimi and Mister were here for waffles, bacon, and mimosas (yummy) for breakfast. Mimi stayed and Mister came back with Joel for lunch: honey-baked ham, broccoli casserole, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs and rolls. Buttermilk chess pie and apricot nectar cake for dessert. You'd think we are from the South or sumthin'.
Poor Benny-boo had fever Saturday - Monday and missed school on Tuesday too. I took him to the doctor Monday morning and everything checked out great, so we were shocked when his fever spiked at 103 Monday night, he got glassy-eyed, and passed out on the couch. We put him to bed early and his fever broke around 10pm that night. Another day of rest and he was back to school today, albeit a little snotty. Chris was sick today. I hope we are done with this virus!
