Ben broke two bones in his foot. Did he break his foot on the ice? No! I wouldn't let them go outside 1) because it was just too dang cold and 2) because they would hurt themselves. So of course Ben broke his foot jumping on the bed.
We were in the kitchen cooking dinner when it happened. We "examined" his foot and we were sure it wasn't broken and that he was over reacting. You can imagine the drama going on during that "conversation". In the middle of all that, Cleo decided it would be the perfect time to squat in the middle of the kitchen floor and pee. I thought Chris was going to lose his mind.
Considering the ice on the roads and the late hour, we agreed we would let Ben sleep on it and see if it still hurt in the morning. He still couldn't walk on it in the morning so we headed to the doctor. Thankfully their pediatrician has an orthopedist on staff now. A few x-rays later and Ben was fitted with a tiny little boot cast that he gets to wear until Christmas Eve. He had just gotten new green Hulk shoes the day before, so we had to bedazzle the boot with Hulk bandaids (no Hulk stickers available, but some awesome, quick-thinking nurses calmed him down).
